PSAI Hispaniola Announces the Discovery and Exploration of the Currently Deepest Cave of the Island
PSAI Hispaniola is thrilled to announce the discovery and exploration of the currently deepest cave of the island. A team of members from the DRSS (Dominican Republic Speleological Society) have spent about two weeks in a new area where they explored two different springs. One of which turned out to be sub 107 meters (350 feet) deep past a series of restrictions in a huge boulder collapse. The cave keeps on descending but the team couldn’t pursue any further due to the lack of deep diving logistics. However, plans for a return trip are already in the pipeline. The spring has, in addition to the deep passages, some breathtaking dry cave sections and detailed photo and video documentation are planned for the end of the year.
